Some clients have asked what they can do to prepare for our visit, so we thought we’d put out a list of things that help you get the most out of West Coast Junk’s visit, and get your trash cleared.
While we recommend that you make clearly separate piles of junk (e.g., donations vs junkyard), it’s fine to let us take care of the heavy lifting. These are our recommendations. Let us do things like breaking down large furniture pieces, taking care of your rental clean-up, and removing construction and yard debris while you take care of clients, moving errands, or just go for a nature walk. Whatever. We’ll work hard regardless – don’t feel guilty for taking some time out to enjoy life! You don’t have to justify hiring haulers.
Know what we do, and get your trash cleared
First, be prepared for our visit by knowing what to expect! Check out our services to make sure that we offer the type of service that you need. This blog post can help you get a better idea of what it looks like when we come to get your trash cleared out. First we give you a quote and figure out a time to come to you. We give you a courtesy call when we’re on our way so you can finalize your prep, get your pets in order, and brush your teeth. When we arrive, we wear safety gear – both for our bodies and your home! (Back braces and gloves keep us safe, booties and sliders keep your floors and walls safe.)
Read what former clients have to say in our 5-star reviews
Read the 5-Star Yelp Reviews we have from satisfied customers. Many write that they were surprised at our speed, timeliness, and friendliness. We love reading that and are so grateful to clients who take the time to post a review. It helps us stay focused on our mission and reminds us that we really make a difference for people.
Separate trash from treasure
Hauling your stuff away is only half the job done. We divide everything up and take it to various donation and recycling centers based on the type of junk it is. So if you already know that you want to donate some things and definitely trash others or if you already know something is beyond use, let us know because we plan the removal accordingly.
Remove Hazardous Materials from the junk
Keep the items on this list out of the haul-away piles so that we do not waste your time separating things out:
- Cleaning products
- Loose dirt/soil
- Anything cemented into the ground
- Pressure treated wood
- Grand pianos
- Harmful chemicals
- Your pets
- Annoying neighbors
- Light bulbs
Ask us if there is anything you need to get rid of, but you’re unsure of its classification.
Take a walk around your space – see what needs it’s trash cleared
Lots of people realize they have a lot of stuff, but that’s as far as they go until there’s a deadline, like visitors are coming – then clutter needs to get gone fast! Before you make some panicked phone calls, stop and take the time to evaluate your needs. If your trash cleared job can be done all at once, you might save some money by avoiding any minimum volume charges or fees. At the very least, you’ll have saved time for yourself. We recommend that you walk around the space and jot down what needs hauling. Remember to include minor demo work, like cubicle walls being torn down and hauled away, decks to broken down and torn apart, or old kitchen cabinets to remove.
We’re happy to answer any questions you have along the way to booking with us, of course. You may also find answers on our website’s FAQ page. There’s more to come in Part 2 – stay tuned!
